Good for 4, 6 or 8 and teamplay. The best large Simulgear board ever made! Fun special characters and a variety of ways to win make this a masterpiece!
A tragic number of bad reviews on this one... don't heed them!
Normally a 3 player endgame on a board is really bad, as no one wants to put themself out there to allow a 3rd party to gain in strength... so there is a lot of sitting back. Here the 3 player play is quite fun, and doesn't last in that stalemate situation forever.
The bonus structure is fun, and the choice in going for the endgame can be crucial.
It's a good, straightforward board that plays homage to many horror themes and movies. A good range of tactics can be used to win. Good for 4-5 I'd say.
Unlike many type of crossword types, this one is very symmetrical in structure... the layouts are the same in all 4 areas. Good to have a unique board of this type (unique in that the structure is not unique!). The fog is great, and the challenge of finding the right balance between defense and aggression is quite fun. Good for 4-6.
I really enjoy this one, one of the larger ones that doesn't get stuck easily with impasses. Fun bonus structure, as you need to read the board, secure a bunch of crystals before you nab a castle. Good for 5-7 I'd say, could be quite fun as teamplay with transfers enabled.
This board is one of my favourite- it has abilities and features that I was told long ago were not possible by experienced board makers! The tech tree is very cool, and the unique benefits to each starting nation gives a "Civilizations" feel to it.
A lot of work was put into testing and making a balanced board- with such complexity it is pretty hard to really quantify. Games can be a bit long, but are quite fun. Best to play with 4!
A good board with a variety of continent shapes and odds! A homage to many great warfish players as well. The fog adds a great element of mystery. The balance of caution and aggression makes for truly intense nerve-wracking decision making. Good for 4-8.
A good layout, nice distribution of bonuses, chokepoints etc. A bit of luck comes into it with the fog, and which way opponents move to expand. best with 4 players!
Looks very nice, has good gameplay. But way too much effort is required to find ways to maximize bonuses... always flipping to continent details is very tedious. There are other boards that make use of the same game mechanics. Loved the show as well, really wanted to like this one.
Ignore the confused players... all is very easy to understand, and single territory bonuses are no harder to hold than on any other board, unless they are the spades... more reward, more creativity required to hold it!
As with all in the series, it's a fun board. This one is best for 3-4. For more players, play other ones in the series. Looks good too!
An excellent adaptation, with creative wargear features used to give unique territories some flavour! Appropriate bonuses, good card scale, great graphics... what else can you ask for? Good for 3-6.
A classic board, lots of good variety in continent size, nice use of airports to open things up (but defense is good and appropriate). Is great for individual or team games. I would also say it is one of the first boards to make use of super continents... gotta get some props for that too.
This expanded version of Salems Dusk is big enough to support teamplay, but is of course excellent for individual play. With the fog, you can try to go big early on... a nice change from non-fog boards where no one would let you get a big continent. Some defense modifiers help keep you alive.
A good board, with nice use of Hordes, and some modifiers. Some fog is good too. Just wish that the middle was more of a legitimate place to play/consolidate. Lots of borders there, so you really have to work on consolidating on the edges, limits the # of players that can effectively play. Best for 4-5.
Zombies is a fun board good for a mid ranged group of players (4-8ish). Has a good mix of hordes and continent bonuses, nice use of modifiers with the roads. Fog is also quite appropriate for good gameplay and theme-wise.
Has immense complexity and replayability! A SimulGear dream. Plus the 3v2 format is nicely balanced, lots of different strategies to employ.
Just make sure your team as Premium, cuz coordination and planning is vital to win... you need the PMing.
Also look for the 3v3 in development!
It's a good board. Some may complain about the strength of the SW part of the board, but if that is how it is, that's how it is! It looks nice and is straightforward. Good for 3-5.
A good board that was one of the first that I knew about that used the new capitals rule... which a few players don't seem to read about in the about section.
A fun Hordes style board with a few twists. A little heavy on the neutrals count though.
